What to Do for a Bahamas Wedding

The Bahamas are among the most exciting and more exotic places in the world to visit. With this in mind it is no surprise that there are plenty of weddings in the area. When planning a Bahamas vacation for a wedding it helps to take some things into consideration for a Bahamas wedding. There are certain documents and policies that are needed for planning the wedding.

One of the things to watch for is that of a resort in the Bahamas that offer wedding packages. One of these resorts will take care of many of the essential preparations that are needed for a great wedding. This includes not only the paperwork that is needed for the legalization of the marriage but also the planning for a honeymoon that is needed.

Getting a marriage license from the Bahamas will be needed for a Bahamas wedding to take place. Only marriage licenses from the Bahamas will be accepted in the country. That means that people who have licenses in their native countries will not be able to get married with just the licenses from their native countries. The license from the Bahamas can be received for a cost of a hundred dollars at the Registrar General's Department. A notarized document of certification stating that the couple is not married yet will be needed too.

A pastor from the church that the couple attends can assist in the wedding. However, a local pastor from the Bahamas will have to perform the wedding.

The couple will also need to work on planning a Bahamas vacation before the actual wedding. The couple will have to stay in the Bahamas for at least twenty four hours before the actual wedding takes place. For instance, if the couple is going to have the wedding on a Sunday it will be required to get onto the island no later than the Friday before then. Evidence of the date of arrival will have to be provided for proof. The date will be listed on an immigration card.

There are other documents that will need to be provided too. A valid driver's license or passport will be needed. A certified birth certificate, a stamped card from the Bahamas immigration group and a divorce decree or death notice in the event that this is not the first marriage for one person will be needed.

For minors that are looking to get married in the Bahamas an affidavit of parental consent is needed. The required age is eighteen.

Also, same sex marriages are not available in the Bahamas. These are not mentioned in the laws in the country.

The last of the things to use for the wedding is a place to go to for planning a Bahamas vacation. The Lucaya Pelican Bay, Four Seasons Resort and Paradise Island are among the most popular places for weddings. It is best to consult a wedding planner in the country for assistance. It also helps to do it as soon as possible because weddings can be booked well in advance.

Those are all important things to do for a Bahamas wedding. It can be an exciting and memorable thing but it is important that all of the right procedures are followed so that the wedding can take place and be recognized.
